Cornea and Contact Lens Specialist for Keratoconus and Medically-necessary Corneal Conditions
As a dedicated cornea and contact lens specialist, Dr. Yu’s practice and passion is focused on complex contact lens fits for Keratoconus and other medically-necessary corneal conditions. These include more challenging fits for Pellucid Marginal Degeneration, post-LASIK/PRK/RK irregularities and ectasias, pediatric aphakia, severe dry eye, customized cosmetic lenses for traumatic deformities, and ocular prostheses. Her expertise also extends to all types of soft contact lenses, including strong near-sighted and far-sighted prescriptions, high astigmatism and multi-focal contacts.
One of Dr. Yu’s primary specialties is fitting and designing custom lenses for Keratoconus, as well as treating and managing Keratoconus in the various stages of disease severity, including post-operative transplant and surgical cases. She has worked with innumerable patients throughout the Tri-State area, designing and utilizing a full spectrum of custom soft lenses, hard/rigid gas permeable lenses, hybrid lenses, mini-scleral lenses, and scleral lenses for therapeutic treatment. She has also published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals on Keratoconus, fitting medical therapeutic lenses for Keratoconus, and on fitting specialty contact lenses for all kinds of regular, irregular, and post-operative corneas.
Advocate for Myopia Management
Dr. Yu has also been a strong and long-time advocate for Myopia Management (myopia control), and is certified to fit multiple types of overnight orthokeratology (corneal refractive therapy) and corneal reshaping contact lenses. Proper fitting and management of these lenses can help to reduce the progression of near-sightedness and control prescription increases in children and teenagers, and Dr. Yu is committed to educating families on the risks of near-sightedness and the technology available to manage its progression.
Teaching & Consulting
Along with being fully committed to CCLI, Dr. Yu serves on faculty at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mt. Sinai, where she instructs ophthalmology residents, teaches Keratoconus and other types of specialty contact lens fittings, and provides direct patient care. She serves as a consultant for several contact lens manufacturers, and has also given a variety of presentations and lectures on contact lens advancements and technology. Moreover, she has participated in many forums focused on fitting contact lenses, as well as published multiple articles on techniques of contact lens fittings and advancements in various contact lens applications.
Education, Research & Publishing
Dr. Yu graduated from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York, and then furthered her training by completing a Fellowship in Cornea and Contact Lenses. She subsequently worked with one of the leading ophthalmologists in Manhattan specializing in LASIK and PRK, and served as Clinical Instructor to optometry students and residents at the College. In conjunction with the Contact Lens Research Group, Dr. Yu was the principal investigator in designing and conducting a clinical research study relating to Keratoconus.

Dr. Yu is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society, and a member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists.
She grew up in Connecticut, and feels privileged to be serving the greater Fairfield County communities and beyond. Besides being a food and travel aficionado, she loves snorkeling, yoga, reading and writing, and is an avid motor sports enthusiast.
